The new, state of the art Cairns Aquarium opened in September 2017 and now YOU can spend the day exploring the world above and under the water with a visit to this must-visit attraction. Full of fun and adventure for all ages to enjoy, Cairns Aquarium will give you a look into the animals that live in both the rainforests and the oceans of Far North Queensland. With a visit here, you'll follow the journey of a drop of rain as it begins an adventure into our rivers and streams, our luscious rainforests, and of course, the beautiful Great Barrier Reef.

With an emphasis on life underwater in Tropical North Queensland, there are ten different eco-systems showcasing a range of flora and fauna spread across 70 different habitats. With a number of different presentations throughout the day, including talks on River Monsters, the Ribbon Reef, the Open Ocean and Coral Sea Predators, you'll have a busy and fun day at the aquarium. Cairns Aquarium is an absolutely beautiful place. My children and I spent hours watching all the amazing creatures and even got to touch some starfish. We went in the morning and it was extremely busy so we left for a couple of hours for lunch then come back, it was really quiet in the afternoon so I recommend going then. Also if you attend the keepers doing talks they are very interesting to listen to.

Pretty good aquarium for the size of the facility

Pretty good aquarium for the size of the facility. Great for children, not so much for adults. I liked all the information beside and around each tank etc. Very informative and good to read a little about each animal. Fairly quiet when we went during the week.

Expensive to visit but
Joe Reid 1 month ago

Expensive to visit but, in my view, definitely worth it. All the talks were informative and funny. Incredibly modern building with a fantastic array of Aussie wild and marine life. Plenty to look at so you’ll be there for a few hours minimum. Definitely worth a visit!

My partner and I visited Cairns Aquarium and we had such a great time there

My partner and I visited Cairns Aquarium and we had such a great time there. My partner was like a little kid in a toy shop he loved it. Seeing all the sea animals and wildlife creatures were great I highly recommended doing the Cairns Aquarium! And the tickets are reasonable.

A lot of fun with talks and explanations along the way
Julien Mghabghab 2 months ago

A lot of fun with talks and explanations along the way. Definitely worth a visit. Check the times of talks as you can follow them all as you walk around the aquarium enjoying the full experience. Shark feeding was the highlight but didn't behave the way I imagined and is more of controlled feeding, sharing it out.

It’s a fantastic Aquarium
David Ween 3 months ago

It’s a fantastic Aquarium, although we’re crossing our fingers & hoping more Coral will be clinging to the rocks in the future. Who knows maybe it might be the only place we will be able to see them. They’ll be more valuable than gold. Maybe a few more seats inside the place would be good to slow down the experience. We expected to find a little Cafe inside but Dundee’s was pretty swishy. Hey & if that 3D movie experience had a curved screen so you can’t see the corners, it would be a lot better.

A really well set out aquarium
Sherryl Burgess 3 months ago

A really well set out aquarium. With an easy to follow route from fresh water to the reef. Even some reptiles and amphibians too. They were quite hard to find at times. Great camouflage abilities made for a great game of hiding and seek. I really enjoyed my time here. Highly recommended for families.

I totally enjoyed my tour of the Aquarium and the speakers were great
Richard MacDonald 3 months ago

I totally enjoyed my tour of the Aquarium and the speakers were great. Took lots of pictures. If in Cairns I would definitely recommend as a place to visit. It was a nice cool atmosphere inside with lots of colour and variety of displays. I thought the gift shop a bit expensive though.

Thank you Experience Oz

Thank you Experience Oz. You saved us so much money on entry price. Wonderful experience. With what I have saved here I can now use the voucher towards another outing. The aquarium is a new addition in Cairns for us. Last time we vsited it wasn't here. Wow, what an amazing place. So much to see. Like being inside the reef. Would highly recommend visiting.

We love the aquarium
Kuldeep Kaur 3 months ago

We love the aquarium. But we hope there should more big fishes. Its good options to visit with kids. And something great in Cairns. We would love to go their in future. In future its better if they expand it more. So we can explore more in this aquarium. I will recommend to my all friends.
